We encourage our students that live nearby the school to walk or ride their bikes to school. Throughout the school year, approximately 15% of our student population either walk or ride their bike to school. At the moment, 15 of our 98 students at Choices Academy either walk or ride a bike to school every day! In 2019, the school had a bike rack installed in front of the school. Our students use the bike rack to keep their bikes secured throughout the school day.

Since so many of our students walk or ride their bikes to school, our students' safety when they are coming to and from school is critical. So, our walkers and bikers need to know about how to take "Safe Routes to School" in order to ensure their safety. As such, our principal Courtney Elliott and our School Resource Officer talks to our walkers and bikers about how to be safe when going to and from school. |
On October 26, 2018, Choices Academy celebrated our Risers going back to their home schools. Our Social Worker, Ms. Blake, coordinated with the Wheelhouse so that every Riser that was going back could get a new bicycle. They also received bicycle locks donated by Ace Hardware and Salisbury Cycle. Choices Academy blocked off the street outside of the school so that the Risers could be presented with and try out their new bicycles! This bicycle celebration encouraged students to use their bicycles as an environmentally-friendly mode of transportation.
