During the 2018-2019 school year, Choices Academy began a recycling program. Each classroom had a cardboard box for recyclables. Our students decorated these recycling boxes with green-friendly phrases to remind them to recycle. We recycled paper, plastic bottles and aluminum cans. At the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year, we received a donation of recycling bins so that each classroom could have a heavy-duty blue plastic recycling bin. Since the beginning of the recycling program, students have helped to weigh and empty the recycling bins so we can track our progress!

Choices Academy also recycles old markers. Old plastic markers (Expo, Crayola, Highlighters) are collected throughout the school year and are mailed off, at the end of the school year,to be recycled through the ColorCycle program. Our students assist with this by putting old markers aside for recycling and going through the markers in each classroom, periodically, to find dried out markers.
High School Science students created a recycling poster to remind the Choices Academy staff and students to recycle more, using the receptacles we have in place. Students included pictures and information which would remind people to recycle and details about what is recyclable.
